Vidyasagar
26-09-2022Today 26th September is our tribute to eminent Bengali educationist, social reformer and the father of Varnaprachaya Pandit Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar. A prominent Bengali educationist, social reformer and prose writer of the 19th century. He was conferred the title of Vidyasagar by the Sanskrit College in 1839 for his profound erudition in Sanskrit language and literature. He is the first successful creator of Bengali prose. Rabindranath Tagore called him the first artist of Bengali prose. He has authored several textbooks including the groundbreaking Shishupathya Varnaprachaya, Sanskrit grammar books. Many works on literature and epistemology have been translated from Sanskrit, Hindi and English into Bengali. His contribution to women's liberation movement is significant. His tireless struggle is still remembered with due respect. Vidyasagar Mahashay is still a memorable personality in Bengali society. Vidyasagar Setu, one of the finest examples of modern architecture in Kolkata, is dedicated to him. Vidyasagar memorial meeting has been organized by Save the orphans and old. The event will begin with the donation of old and new clothes to poor and needy people, and prominent social workers of the area will participate in it. Our leader of Save the orphans and old and old age prominent social worker Dilip Sanpui will be inducted. Greetings to all.
